Personification- "Imagination was a killer" (O'Brien 11). It is personification because it gives a non-living thing, imagination, a living quality, killer.
Imagery- "His jaw was in his throat, his upper lip and teeth were gone, his one eye was shut, his eyebrows were arched, his neck was open to the spinal cord..."(O'Brien 124). The author describes so well that readers can get an image of what this dead soldier looked liked.

Sensory Language- "He would sometimes taste the envelope flaps, knowing her tongue had been there" (O'Brien 1). It is sensory language because It uses the sense if taste.
Direct Characterization- "Her eyes were gray and natural, her lips slightly open..." (O'Brien 4). The author describes what the character looks like, her appearence.
