What were some effects of the Peace of Westphalia?

The Peace of Westphalia made an impact by officially setting territories along with settling a few disputes. France ended up gaining territory on both Spanish and German frontiers,
the Hapsburgs had to accept almost total independence of all the princes of the Holy Roman Empire, and the Netherlands and the Swiss Federation (present-day Switzerland) won recognition as independent states. Not only did the Peace of Westphalia end the Thirty Years' War, but it changed the way Europeans would live forever.
