Indus River Valley civilization

•The Indus River Valley is located in the region known as South Asia, or the Indian Subcontinent
•Civilization arose around the time of Egypt
•The two main cities of this civilization were Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro
•These two cities had many accomplishments: temples, granaries, houses made of brick, houses had plumbing, cities has sewers, and they grew cotton
•Trade was very important- archeologists uncovered that merchants traveled as far as Sumer to trade
•Harappa's writing system is indecipherable
•Scientists aren't sure why the civilization declined
-Some suggests that damage to the local environment was a factor
