Describe

Happiness

By: Joep Buijis, 2010

In this painting, a young boy is depicted by the use of implied line, organic and invented shape, and rainbow colors.

Analyze

~ Boy is in a carefree stance
~ Direction of hair conveys relaxed expression and movement
~ Blurred background puts emphasis on boy
~ Equal weight and balance
~ Bouncing and skipping movement is caused by implied line and changes in color
~ Repetition in colors unifies piece

Interpret

I think this work is communicating the pure joy and happiness found in children. This boy's stance, disheveled look, and smile portrays the carefree attitude of a child. Also, the bright colors give off a bright, happy feeling.

Joy
