C) The farmers in the Indus period were likely to have been less interested in achieving high productivity than in ensuring reliability: minimizing the risk rather than maximizing yields. Dramatic agricultural growth fueled population growth and urbanization and combined with specialized industrial production and trade, resulted in unprecedented economic growth for India.

A) The rain brought water for the crops, the plants could take advantage of the moisture offered by the summer floods and monsoon rainfall. The crops were to set the pattern for agriculture over much of the subcontinent in later times.

B) Irrigation included various types of wells—shallow wells, deep wells, tube wells, artesian wells etc. and tanks that are constructed for storing water. From all these tanks, water is carried to the fields through canals. Canals supply water only when there is flood in the rivers.
