Rural life in Texas
Between 1846 to 1860 the farms or ranches grew from 12,000 to 43,000. Since land was abalone and inexpensive almost all texans lived on farms or ranches. Many Texans focused on growing cash crops. Cotton and sugar canes were major cash crops in Texas.
