Food Chains are Fragile

Food chains play a big role in the deep ocean. They have to be balanced or else the entire ecosystem will become a disaster. For example, if one species, such as a viperfish, and their population increases this will cause a decrease in shrimp. The microbe population, however, would increase because not as many organisms would eat them. Since there would be more microbes this means there would be a smaller amount of marine snow. The giant squid population would increase from having plenty of food to eat. Since this is just one of the many food chains, other species in the food web would be effected too.
