Example Three: Lou Gehrig

In a speech Lou Gehrig gave on TV he said: "When you have a father and a mother who work all their lives so you can have an education and build your body – it’s a blessing. When you have a wife who has been a tower of strength and shown more courage than you dreamed existed – that’s the finest I know" (Gehrig, lines 14-16). This creates a feeling of compassion for the family of Gehrig and makes the people watching this on TV feel a connection to Gehrig due to the strength of family in hard times. This strength is a connection to common families of the world and allows the people to feel closer to a famous baseball player, who normally is impossible to connect to because he is so famous.
