Speed
Speed is a scalar quantity that refers to how fast an object is moving. Speed can be thought of as a rate which an object covers a certain distance. For example an object the has a high rate of speed covers a large amount of distance in a small amount of time. As compared to an object with a slow rate of speed which means to cover a relatively small distance in the same amount of time.In order to determine how fast an object is going, you measure the time it takes to cover a given distance, using the equation
d = vt
where:
d is the distance
v is the speed or velocity
t is the time covered
vt is v times t
For an example of speed, a car can reach a speed of 200mph. (Just an example). To go 200 miles it will take the car one hour. (If the car is already going 200mph).
