Displacement Method
The displacement method is used to measure volume. You would use this method when trying to find the volume of an object with NO definite shape. For example a lumpy rock's volume needs to be measured but you can't find the base, width, or hight. Then you would fill a graduated cylinder to I'd say 50 or 100 milliliters then drop the rock into the cylinder. Then, measure the difference between the first point and the next point remembering to check at the meniscus. That is the volume of the rock.
