The volvox niche is to provide food for other heterotrophs because, it itself is a primary producer. In addition to making food it also makes oxygen, organic nutrients, and molecules for other organisms.

The most interesting organism I found in the pond water lab was a worm. Compared to everything else in pond it was huge. I often found it eating other organisms and algae.

It was extremely hard to get pictures of Protista because they are very fast, you will see them one minute, get your phone, and they will be gone the next. Sometimes it was even hard to see the Protista in just slide.

In our samples the most common organism was rotifers. They were both of the pond water and in the turtle water sample.
