Liturgy of the Word Cont.

If a deacon is not present, the priest would approach the ambo, accompanied, if it's appropriate, by ministers with incense and candles. Once he gets to the ambo, he says "The Lord be with you" and we reply,"And with your spirit.

The deacon or priest says,"A reading from the holy Gospel according to N." At the same time he makes the sign of the cross on the book, his forehead, lips, and chest. The people respond,"Glory to you, O Lord"

The deacon or priest then proceed to proclaim the Gospel. At the end of the Gospel the deacon/priest acclaims,"the Gospel of The Lord" Everyone replies,"Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ."

After the Gospel is the homily, then the Creed, the Nicene Creed or Apostles Creed, is said. The Prayers of the Faithful conclude the Liturgy of the Word.
