The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement began in 1896 and ended in 1954. The Civil Rights Movement was a period of time when a mass popular movement to secure for African Americans equal access to and opportunities for the basic privileges and rights of U.S. citizenship.
The Civil Right Movement encompasses social movements in the United States whose goal was to end racial segregation and discrimination against black Americans. It enforced constitutional voting rights to African Americans. The Civil Rights Act banned discrimination based on race, color, religion, or national origin.

The African American supported the NAACP, Jackson's Freedom March. This mean they want people to help support African American rights.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He made a speech called "I had a Dream" and in this speech he wanted African American to have equal rights.

Emmett Till was an African American boy who was murdered at age 14 in Mississippi. He was reported flirting with a white woman.
