What is a Totalitarian government?
Totalitarian: one person or a few people decide laws for everyone. The citizens have no say in how the country is governed. NO FREEDOM!
Red// government
Blue// the people
Fun facts:
• Coined in May 1923 by Giovanni Amendola, totalitarianism began life as a condemnation of Fascist ambitions to monopolize power and to transform Italian society through the creation of a new political religion.
• Anxiety over Soviet ambitions in Europe prompted Churchill's use of the term twice in his "Iron Curtain" speech on March 5, 1946, at Fulton, Missouri.
• By the mid-1930s, invidious comparisons among the German, Italian, and Soviet systems as totalitarian were becoming common; they increased considerably once the Nazi-Soviet pact was signed in 1939.
