HOW WAS IT DISCOVERED?

Several scientists had been studying hydrogen, but it wasn't until 1766 that Henry Cavendish discovered that it was an element and distinguished it from other flammable gasses. He Also confirmed that hydrogen is indeed part of water. Later, in 1783, Antoine Lavoisier named the element from the Greek words meaning "water" and "generate."
