Transitions help improve the writing a person needs in order to make sure that both sentences and paragraphs stick together and ultimately have coherence. More specifically, so theres no gaps in between ideas. An essay should build on its ideas from the beginning to the end in which transitions are needed in order to make it flow more smoothly.
