The structure of the DNA is called a double helix: this looks like a twisted staircase or a twisted ladder. The DNA is lined in a 5’ to 3’ order, 5’ being the top of the DNA and 3’ being the bottom.

DNA is a nucleic acid with monomers called nucleotides. Each nucleotide is made of a 5-carbon sugar called deoxyribose, a nitrogenous base, and a phosphate.
