Harlem Renaissance

The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural revolution in which liberated African Americans expressed their newly found identities as free men and women. It began in Harlem, New York after the civil war ended I'm 1865. This called for black artist, writers, social reformers, educators, and intellects to use their gifts in order to push their goal of equality in segregated and racist America.
