-Trade in the Pennsylvania Colony used the natural resources and raw materials available to develop trade in corn and wheat and livestock including beef and pork. Other industries included the production of iron ore, lumber, coal, bricks, apples, beer and wine, textiles, rope, furs and shipbuilding. Pennsylvania prospered industries related to iron, paper making, textiles and shipbuilding. Their agriculture wheat, corn, dairy and cattle. Other industries included . Towns and trade cities that emerged in Pennsylvania were Philadelphia, Lancaster and York. The textile and furniture business operated by the Hopewell family should proposer in Pennsylvania.
-Location:The Pennsylvania Colony was located on the Atlantic coast of North America. This should provide a good area of trade and export for the Hopewell family business. Pennsylvania was the middle colony of the original 13 colonies (there are six states above it and six states below it). It held the colonies together like the "keystone" in a window or door arch.
-The Pennsylvania Colony was founded in 1682 by William Penn and other colonists. Penn founded the colony as a safe haven for the Quakers.

-Trade with England is plentiful in Pennsylvania. This should be an advantage for the Hopewell family as they own a textile and furniture business.
-Schooling became mandatory in the Mid 1700's. This is a benefit for the Hopewell Family as some colonies did not provide or require schooling/education. Many colonies felt this was a private matter and families were expected to pay for schooling or provide it on their own.
-Sawmills were the first to appear using the power of numerous streams. These streams were also key to the shipbuilding industry, as well as facilitating trade, which made Philadelphia the most important center for foreign trade in the colonies. The sawmills would definitely be a benefit for the Hopewell family with the furniture business. Also, the streams for trade wild be a great advantage to sell and trade their furniture and textiles.
-Religion: Not dominated by a specific religion which gave way to religious freedom for Quakers, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews and others. This should be a selling point for the Hopewell family as they can practice the Anglican religion.
