Pope and Church

The role of the Church:
-The most important accomplishment of the church was converting the population of Western Europe to Christianity.
- The church was the main focus of religious and social life.
-The Popes became declaring papal supremacy which is the authority over all secular rulers including kings and emperors.
-Most men of the church were well educated, therefore feudalistic rulers delegated them to government positions.
-The church attempted to end war between nobles by claiming that combat stop between Friday through Sunday of each week and on religious holidays. (The periods were called the Truce of God).
