Knights and Vassals
Role of vassals:
-completed required chores
-offered experienced soldiers to fight for the king
-provided. Loathes and weapons for soldiers
Knights
-mostly made up of nobles who began training in boyhood
-also known as a mounted warrior
-knights were the wealthiest of the three types of soldiers which were foot soldiers, archers, and knights
-when a male was dubbed a knight, there was usually a public ceremony held
-usually fought of horseback
-yielding swords, axes, and lances; their wore armor and carried shields for protection, or they fought on foot using daggers, spears, crossbows, and longbows
-besides real war, they also competed in fake battle called tournaments
- chivalry was a code of conduct that knights followed which required knights to be brave, loyal, and true to their word.
Vassals
- lesser lords who were granted land from greater lords in exchange for service and loyalty
