What are the elements of a good mystery?

The mystery genre is a very interesting one. It keeps readers interested wanting to know what happens next and therefore makes it a good book to read. What actually makes a mystery so good and what keeps you wanting more? The most important thing in a mystery is the plot. Plot is everything and is what makes your book good or bad. Another important element is "The Twist," this makes your readers shocked and wanting even more but more importantly it knowing when to say the big twist. Last but not least, the ending is a very important part. It's what the readers have been waiting for the whole book. This is also what decides if they think the book was good or bad. These elements are what make a good mystery.
