A symbol in the story "Come Again in the Spring", are the crows. The crows represent the old man's memory. Whenever the man in black comes and asks the old man hark about what happened earlier in his life, he looks at and listens to the birds, who remind him of his history. The crows keep the old man alive. When he sees or hears them, he stays alive. They give him another year of life.
