Lobbying

*What is a lobbyist? A lobbyist is an activist who seeks to persuade members of the government (like Congress) to enact legislation that would benefit their group.

Lobbying involves more than persuading legislators. Lobbyists; research and analyze legislation or regulatory proposals, attend congressional hearings, and educate government officials and corporate officers on important issues.

Pitfalls of Lobbying:
Lobby groups tend to focus on only one issue.
The expense of lobbying can be quite high such as; traveling, gathering petitions & writing and rewriting proposals .
Lobbyist often don't realize they are breaking their own freedom of speech and religion laws by forcing others to accept their lifestyles.
