THE CLASSICS
The classic periods lasted from 250- 900 AD. There were about 40 cities and in each of them were about 5,000 to 50,000 people. Goods were traded in the Maya trade routes. The warm lowlands were used to grow cotton, rubber trees, and cacao beans (chocolate). The cool highlands traded valuable stones such as the jade and the obsidian.
