"So the universe is inflating? Here I thought it couldn't be bigger."
Yes, I know this a lot to take in, but the Universe is indeed inflating. A key component is dark energy. Dark energy is what increases the rate at which the Universe expands. Dark energy (as scary as it sounds) causes galaxies, planets, stars (the whole universe) to move apart. Astronomers measure the expansion of our Universe by measuring the distances of celestial objects. Also, dark energy is all around; however, we cannot see it. Ever. Crazy, huh.
