6. When Russia decided to close off West Berlin from West Germany, it caused an outrage in America. To combat this, the US decided to perform airdrops into Berlin until Russia unblocked the road that led to West Berlin.
7. The Korean War was an intense battle fought over communism and capitalism, and was one of the ‘hot’ moments of the Cold War. Ultimately, the war resulted in a stalemate and no formal treaty was ever signed by the two sides.
8. The Cuban Missile Crisis was another extremely ‘hot’ moment in the Cold War. The Soviet Union sent nuclear missiles to Cuba, which were then pointed at the United States, and after an intense standoff that lasted about two weeks, the Soviet Union decided not to bomb the United States and start a nuclear war.
9. In the Cold War, newly developing and newly formed countries were forced to take sides between capitalism and communism and were forced to ally themselves with either the United States or the Soviet Union.
10. The Vietnam war was fought after the rise of Ho Chi Minh and his communist Viet Minh Party.
