Jefferson drafts declaration

Jeffersons job was to explain to the world why colonies were choosing to separate from Britain.

According to Jefferson the rights all people were born with was life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. If these rights are ignored (according to Jefferson) people have the right to create a new government that will protect their saftey and happiness.

Jefferson listed the kings abuses as showing no concern for the rights of colonist and unfit to be the ruler of free people.
