A vehicle was traveling in the 1700 block of Cherry Grove Rd North in Suffolk, Va. on April 29, 2013, when the driver ran off the roadway to the right and struck a tree, police said. The 18-year-old passenger died as a result of the crash.

SUFFOLK, Va - An 18-year-old Smithfield teen died early Sunday morning after the car he was riding in hit a tree.

Suffolk Police Department spokeswoman Debbie George said the accident happened just after 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of Cherry Grove Road in Suffolk.

The driver of a vehicle was headed north when the car went off the road. The accident pinned both the driver and the passenger inside the car.
