1848-a group of abolitionists gathered in Seneca Falls New York to discuss women's rights
1850s-the movement gained more power but lost most of it during the civil war
1869-National Women Suffrage Association formed, included Susan B. Anthony, argue for a universal-suffrage amendment
1890s-NWSA joined with the American Women Suffrage Association to form the National American Women Suffrage Association
1910-Women began to gain the vote in the west, southern and eastern states were not budging
1916-NAWSA president unveiled a plan to peacefully win the vote
However the National Women's Party focused on hunger strikes and White House pickets
