Welcomed into the capital only to be placed in a downstairs store room
Description, "woman, first denied a soul, then called mindless, now arisen, declared herself to be reckoned." Was ordered to be scraped off in 1921 by Congress
Private donors gathered the 75000 to move the statue in 1969
