Germany

The Weakest

I believe that Germany was the weakest of the three kingdoms. Germany was not very successful. They did manage to stay a kingdom but did not conquer or expand as greatly as France. There almost always was a dispute with a church leader, mostly the pope. Many German kings excommunicated a pope (Henry IV excommunicated Pope Gregory VII and appointed a new pope) or were excommunicated by a pope (Frederick was excommunicated by Pope Gregory for failing to successfully carry out the crusades). The kings were constantly battling the church disliking the hold the church had over the royalty. This fighting is the major reason I believe that Germany is the weakest of the three kingdoms.

Henry IV

Frederick II
