The Taiping Rebellion altered the course of Chinese History. There were many effects of this rebellion. It caused the Qing Dynasty to further weaken afterwards from the massive amount of turmoil it caused. It also caused the great weakness of the Qing Dynasty to be exposed. In addition to this, it resulted in the Ruler to come to the realization that change was needed if they hoped to get rid of all of the turmoil within the nation. In addition to this, it caused a lot of reforms such as the Spheres of Influence and the Self-Strengthening Movement.
