The End

The String of victories that the Taiping enjoyed were not permanent for certain reasons. One of the main reasons was because of the radical nature of the Taiping rebellion. The Taiping Rebellion caused the Chinese gentry to side with the Qing because they did not support these radical changes and this was ultimately their downfall. The Qing dynasty made regional armies controlled by the Cinese Gentry and they also took the advice and the weapons of their European Advisors to defeat the rebels. By the end of 1864, Nanjing had fallen and the Qing had won a very costly Civil War where they lost over 20 Million people.
