Benefits of the Desert Biome.
One benefit of the desert biome is the Flora and Fauna. It is a benefit because the desert is home to diverse plants and animals, all adapted for the desert water and surroundings. Some examples of these thriving desert plants are cactus, yuccas, and agaves. Another advantage of the desert biome is the abundance of soil nutrients. Because the desert has little or no rainfall, the soil have fairly low salt concentrations, which make the soil more favorable for desert plant growth. Desert soil holds an abundance of nutrients.
Dangers of the Desert Biome.
One danger of the desert biome is the lack of water. Because of the extreme temperatures, it is not uncommon for the rain that falls to vaporize before it even hits the ground. There is annually less than 1 inch of rain, sometimes none at all. Another danger of the denser biome climate are the extreme weather conditions. Daily extremes in deserts are up to 130 degrees Fahrenheit, and by the night the temperatures can fall below freezing. Less frequent weather disturbances can produce wildfires and flood rains.
