Purgatory

Purgatory was the Catholic belief of a place where souls went before they went to heaven. Kind of like a place you went and were judged by your actions.

Indulgences were a method created by the church to raise money. They were basically a form that relieved you from your sins.

A Protestant is a person who sided with Martin Luther and questioned the church. A protestant believed what Martin Luther thought was correct and supported him. Luther's beliefs were that anyone could have a direct relationship with god, and as long as people believed in God and lived by the Bible would be saved.
