Some of these animals are so rare that they have all but disappeared such as the crested eagle and the jaguar. El Salvador is also home to the monkey, coyote, puma,tapir, parrots armadillo and ocelot. This country has a great variety of other animals such as the exotic bird called the Torogoz which is the national bird of El Salvador along with 420 more varieties of birds. It has a great variety of reptiles and and small animals. The Salvadoran government has established national parks such as Bosque Conchagua, Cerro Verde, El Boqueron, El Imposible and Montecristo in order to preserve it wildlife habitats and endangered species.
