Abiotic Factors

Temperature/Climate- varies significantly (-65 degrees to 70 degrees Fahrenheit), extremely cold winds bring freezing air from the arctic circle to the taiga areas. The changing temperatures are what affects the amount of life that can live in the harsh winters and fairly warm summer.

Precipitation- heavy snowfall (average of 40 in. per year) that can stay for long periods of time which therefore limits warmth for organisms

Sunlight- little sunlight, barley reaches the ground affects plant growth and warmth

Soil- nutrient poor soil, can be very acidic, and permanently frozen ground affects the amount of plant growth
