Distribution of the Taiga
Worldwide, the boreal forest covers 12 million square kilometers and accounts for about 1/3 of the planet's forests, making it one of the largest biomes in the world. It's mostly found between 50° and 60° northern latitude, just south of the Arctic circle. Most of the Taiga biomes exist underneath the tundra biomes.
In Canada, the boreal forest/Taiga biome occupies about 35% of Canada’s total land area and 77% of Canada’s forested land.
