Who was John Lamark?

Contributions to Darwin's a Theory of a Evolution

John Baptiste Lamark (1744-1829)

- One of the best known early evolutionist, whose theories helped and inspired Charles Darwin with his Theory of Evolution.

- He theorized that living things evolved in a continuos upwards direction. He believed dead matter gradually evolved into more complex forms, striving for Human "perfection".

- According to Lamark, organisms alter their behavior according to environmental change.
