Government

-The government type was political hierarchy. England's governments as a monarch and parliament in which a king ruled but parliament had some power in controlling the King. This is the government that Jamestown came from.
- In 1618 mortial law was abolished and a legislative assembly was created. Two burgesses from each settlement where chosen. The main laws where about tobacco, measures on drunkenness, and gambling. Later in 1624 Virginia became a royal colony.
- charter state that the colonist would enjoy " all liberties", franchises and immunities as they would in England. That became the first constitution of Virginia.
