Towards the end of the day, the artillery fire began to cease. The Union suffered far less causalities than the Confederate army, but they has not yet won the battle. The northern troops proceeded to siege the city of Atlanta, blocking off all supplies coming in or out. After two months of starving out the Southern army, the Confederates finally surrendered.
