common name: Queen Annes Lace
latin name: Dacus Carota

The queen annes lace is native to temperate regions of Europe, southwest Asia and naturalised to North America and Australia. Like the cultivated carrot, the queens annes lace root is edible while young, but quickly becomes too woody to consume. Also it's a beneficial weed. Its has been documented to boost tomato plant production when kept nearby, and it can provide a microclimate of cooler, moister air for lettuce, when intercropped with it. It also attracts wasps to its areas helping the smaller plants around it, but in newly introduced areas it only brings few wasps. It's commonly called a wild carrot, birds nest, or bishop's lace.
