The rainforest has 4 layers. The very top layer is called the emergent layer. The emergent layer is located at the top of the trees. The 2nd to the top layer is called the canopy layer. It is the top/middle layer. The next layer is called the understory layer. Finally, the last layer is called the forest floor. That layer is found on the ground of the forest. Different animals live on different layers. For example, monkeys, birds and sloths live in the upper layers. The layers of the rainforest are very diverse.
