Prince Siddhartha Gautama saw how miserable his people were, so he meditated to answer why his people must suffer. After 40 days of meditating, he found his answers and after he became the enlightened one or the Buddha.

Four noble truths: (all Buddhists believe)
1. All living beings must suffer
2. Suffering, caused by by desires, leads to rebirth.
3. The goal is to end the cycle of rebirth and reac the state of Nirvana.
4. Nirvana is achieved by the eightfold path.
The eightfold path: riteousness of understanding, mindfulness, speed, action, livelihood, effort, thought, and concentration.

Buddhists beliefs are similar to Hinduism and was also founded in India and spread across Asia. There holy text is called the Three Baskets of Wisdom. The worshipped at shrines. Divided into 2 sects: Theravada and Mahayana.
Theravada: believed Buddha was just a spiritual god
Mahayana: believed the Buddha is god

Buddhism

* the wheel represents the Buddha's teachings and the never ending cycle of rebirth. The eight spokes symbolise the eightfold path.
