Pre-colonial Americans played the game of lacrosse. It's started in Native American cultur. The world "lacrosse" is French for "stick". The game was played differently by many groups. But most used a long handled stick with a basket attached to the end. The ball must be thrown and caught in the baskets. to gain a point the players must use their sticks to throw the ball into the goal.
