Gatsby

Equality only happens when you have money and will allow you to have opportunities. People have a chance to make ends meet only if they have an abundance of money. In the book The Great Gatsby Nick's father says "When ever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world don't have the same advantages that you have."(Fitzgerald 3). This quote shows that everyone does not have the same rights. It also shows that people are not educated the same way and don't have the same poise. Another quote from The Great Gatsby is "Civilization is going to pieces." (Fitzgerald 15). This quote shows that people are not open to change. People are afraid that the African Americans are going to take over their jobs and ruin everything that they have created for themselves, however, the African Americans are. merely trying to be apart of the American dream. Americans need to try to look at America from a different angle in order to get the full meaning of the American dream. People need to take pride in any of the work that they put on display because no one knows who will be looking at it.
