On February 19,1846, President Anson Jones gave his farewell speech. Texas celebrated because now it had become part of the United States. The citizens of Texas were still familiar with the government, customs, language, and money system. But, Texas was still a frontier state, and living on the frontier has always been a struggle. Now, Texas will experience fast changes in the next few years.
