Irish and English were the second and third largest groups to settle in Texas. Many Irish settlers fled their homes because of a disease that effected their food. By 1850 there was 1,403 settlers in Texas. By 1860 settlers increased up to 3,480. These settlers that settled in Texas mostly settled in Refugio.
