Meteors

Three stages of a meteor: Stage 1: Meteoroid. A meteoroid is a floating rock in space. They normally are about the size of a baseball, and they sit in space until gravity or something else pulls them in, thus bringing us into stage 2. Stage 2: Meteor. A meteor is when the meteoroid has entered the atmosphere and is beginning to burn up. Normally the meteor burns up before is reaches the surface. But when it doesn't... That brings us to stage 3. Stage 3: Meteorite. A meteorite is when the meteor has managed to hit the surface. These impacts are rare and can leave big craters. For example, the meteorite that hit in Russia left an enourmous crater.
